I would like to join the fundraising efforts for
Fishing for Charity 2015!
Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc. is committed to reducing the
isolation experienced by so many elderly. Meals are delivered to
seniors’ homes by volunteers. Frequently the volunteer may be the only
person the senior sees all day, providing human contact and a safety
net, particularly for those seniors living alone.
Yes, I am hooked, especially caring for seniors. Seniors have always been an important part of my life. Not only did I have the fortune of having all four of my grandparents as part of our family dynamic into my mid-twenties, but I had a great grandmother that lived to almost 100! Their stories were always an inspiration to me, as are the stories our seniors share on a daily basis.
Fishing for Charity not only provides fresh fish for our meals, the event raises awareness of senior hunger and the funds needed to keep our seniors living with dignity in their own homes by donating now.
Get hooked too…donate now!
For over 55 years, Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc. has contributed to the overall well-being of seniors by providing regular nutrition and daily contact with a caring volunteer. The impact this service has in the community is profound. Often family members, neighbors and others put themselves at risk in order to care for a senior. A son or daughter may have to consider leaving their job in order to care for an elderly parent. An elderly woman may struggle to care for her husband, while her own health deteriorates. The daily delivery of a meal from a caring volunteer becomes part of the system of support that not only provides for a senior’s independence and well-being, but compliments their entire support network.

Donated fish helps provide delicious meals for our seniors! During this past year, Meals-on Wheels has been the recipient of almost 15,000 pounds of sushi grade fish providing protein for 60,000 meals.
